Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026.
This policy explains what information richardbuehling.com (the “Site”), the personal website of Richard Buehling, collects and how it is used. The Site has no accounts, forms or newsletter, and it does not store information about you on its own servers.
Information collected
- Analytics. The Site uses Google Analytics to measure visits. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the Site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. Google processes this information under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Server logs. The Site is hosted on DigitalOcean, which records standard request information, such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request, to operate and secure the service.
- Display preference. If you switch between the light and dark themes, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and is not sent to the Site.
- Email. If you email me, I receive your email address and anything you include in the message.
How information is used
Analytics are used to understand how many people visit the Site and which pages they read. Server logs are used to keep the Site running and secure. Emails are used to reply to you. Information is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- You can clear the saved theme by clearing this Site’s data in your browser.
- You can ask what information I hold about you, or ask me to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you these and other rights.
Former newsletter
The Site previously offered an email newsletter. It has been discontinued. If you subscribed and want confirmation that your address has been deleted, email me.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
